Metropolis Podcast
Metropolis magazine (that free English weekly magazine I wrote about earlier) has started to make podcasts, which are pretty much going to be spoken-word-for-word versions of the print magazine. You can subscribe to the feed here.
The host is a guy that calls himself Kamasami Kong, and he has the cheesiest American accent. Think Rick Dees. It’s that bad. Probably worse.
It includes background elevator music, celebrity gossip, blatant advertising and soon, a classifieds section which may or may not make you cringe any more than you already would listening to the show.
I’m not planning to listen to another ever again (heck, I couldn’t even finish listening to this one) but you may want to check it out.

Cheesy, huh? Well, never had anybody ever tell me I sound cheesy, but if that’s what you think, well, I you’re entitled to your opinion. However, the comparison to Rick Dees, was a bit odd. Rich is one of America’s top-paid, top-rated radio personalities, so maybe I should say “Thanks!” Anyway, you comment was about some of very first shows, it was all brand new back then and we really didn’t have a clue about how to turn a magazine into a podcast, but we’ve been experimenting and tweaking. How about giving it another chance? Then, give it another critique either here, in your space, or make a comment to my email address that we can read in the podcast–even if it’s bad. We’re not just sitting still with this effort, we’re constantly trying to make it better and ALL comments; good and bad help us make it better. Thanks!

Hahaha! Oh wow, I’m in trouble now >.< I’ve been sprung by KONG!
I have to point out that I’m an Australian, and while Rick Dees is also broadcast in Australia (at least, he was, last time I checked about 8 years ago) – he’s kinda considered the epitome of American Cheese here in Australia.
If he’s highly successful and wildly rich, then best wishes to him! He’s also just someone who gets mocked a little bit. We used to get the same thing for Steve Irwin before he passed away.
Anyway, your voice just reminded me very strongly of him. Feel free to take it as a compliment ;)
But, fair’s fair. For commenting, I’ll give the podcast another listen :D Thanks for stopping by :D

No problem mate. As you said, everyone’s entitled to an opinion.
Anyway, we’ve really been working on it. And actually your criticism was helpful.

Agreed…It’s too bad they ruined what could have been a useful podcast. I’ve never heard such a cheesy fake name, annoying overdone voice-over voice, and complete ignorance of the topics covered on the show.

Agreed… when it started it was quite wierd, but as I continue to listen, I find it geting better and better. And now, I find it to be one of the most compelling podcasts on the net–especialy for those of us listening in Tokyo. Every week, it’s filled with both timely and useful information. We play it in our restaurant at lunch time every Friday and our customers seem to enjoy it as well.
As for the cheesy, fake name…who cares. Sounds like Bob Messahe above) is having a personal problem. Go back to hugging tree’s, Bob.

Hey Tim,
I agree, I think the MetPod has gotten a lot better and is a really good podcast. It’s the podcast I wanted my What’s Happening In Tokyo podcast to be but I didn’t have the resources, experience, and connections to pull it off. Anyway, what restaurant do you play the MetPod in on Fridays? I’d like to drop by one day to get a bite while listening to the MetPod.
Regards,
Dan
