Hailing All Red Sox/”Dice-K” Fans
Matsuzaka-craze is at an all high despite yesterday’s upset by the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. Despite the 2-1 loss, “Dice-K” still managed to become the first pitcher since Fernando Valenzuela in 1981 to manage 10 or more strikeouts in two of his first three Major League starts.
Nobody’s perfect (the 2-1 loss), but as a Red Sox fan I’d have to say that striking out 10 is still very impressive. For fans who’d like to show their support for the Japanese pitching juggernaut, Newbury Comics has started selling T-shirts with the words “Red Sox” translated into “赤靴下軍団”, or “Aka-Kutsu-Shita-Gun-Dan”. For all in Japan The Red Sox are best known simply as the Red-doh Sokku-su (レッド・ソックス). But either way, the Red Sox and Matsuzaka rule. :)
