Sumo!
It’s that time of the year again, one of the tri-yearly sumo events in Japan. This awesome photo made it as photo of the week in Metropolis.

I don’t know about you guys, but I have always wondered how much a sumo wrestler eats in a day. I know they train hard like all athletes but with that kind of blubber, what exactly are you training for? Brute force? Maybe someone can help me verify that. Apparently, one of the greatest sumo wrestler in the history of Japan is quite small. Well, smaller than the average sumo wrestlers because he is agile. I don’t remember his name but the documentary on National Geographic (or was it Discovery?) etch a picture of a small big man sitting on an alter eating his meals while the rest of his compatriots, big and turgid, sits below him ravishing their meals.
Anyway, sumo being a very ancient form of art still upholds its tradition even today. The picture above is a sumo wrestler tossing salt, a act of purification.
